The Need For Speed series is now up to its fourth incarnation and, like a fine wine, has matured with age. The opening sequence displays the fine cars on offer in a glorious rendered show, giving the look and feel of Gran Turismo 2. The range of supercars available is a motorist's dream, varying from the BMW M5 to the Ferrari F50. The game runs well, with a well-designed menu system and smooth graphics while racing.

The gameplay is also extensive, recreating realistic car mechanics and offering different gaming modes, such as time trial and pursuit and capture. A variety of tracks are available, ranging from urban street chasing to rural rallying, testing the cars to the limit.

Need For Speed 4: Road Challenge is a challenging yet fun driving game. However, those looking for a more arcade feel to their driving should consider Ridge Racer Type 4.--Alex Leung.

After being a fan of the previous need for speed titles, i quickly purchased the title and was immediatly awestruck by the graphics. There is a wide variety of dream cars to select with there own showcase and commmentary which made driving them all the more realistic. When it came down to game play the controls were slightly sluggish and like a realistic ride, i couldn't take turns at 100mph. Once i knew how to find the brakes it was much better.The opponents were damm anoying and thank god you could knock them off the road without paying the bill. The police were also realistic with the ablity to play as them an added bonus. Altogether i think this game was truly amazing and fun. Maybe not one for the arcade, but it will definatly help you out when you get your first ride.

This is so addictive it should'nt be allowed. It is a very satisfying challenge with some superb cars to go for. The courses make the game even more interesting. Try driving at night in the storm in France! Awesome... I like the little 'touches', the barking dog, the bell at the petrol station and me missing the dreaded 'spike' Tournaments are great, especially when "you've won the Gold Trophy!" I've purchased every car, but haven't got the Raceways yet... But I'll get there, providing my fingers last the distance. When do we see 'Need For Speed 5' How can EA better this? In the meantime, if you enjoy driving games and a challenge, this is a must.
