This follow-up puts you in the position of the tribe's shaman--with the ability to wield god-like, but not actually godly, powers--as your people begin their ascent to dominance and you begin your apotheosis.
The game takes the form of a series of scenarios, in which you invariably have to beat seven bells out of the opposing tribes. It's important to nurture your followers, as it is their worship that grants you your magical abilities. So build your village well and stock up on warriors to ensure that, even if you die, their veneration will ensure your resurrection. As the game progresses, the scenarios get more and more complex, and your survival more difficult. Thankfully, your powers steadily increase also.
If there's one criticism to make of this deeply involving game it's that the learning curve is a bit skew-whiff. For the first half-a-dozen scenarios, you're happily bumbling along, making mincemeat of the opposition; then suddenly--bam!--things get much harder. If anything, though, this only serves to fuel your determination to crush the infidels ever more soundly. It's a great game, but just mind you don't get too many delusions of grandeur when you play it. --David Bailey
