Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Hello, children! Are you ready to join Chef for some game-show fun, South Park-style? No, don't let the name fool you. This game isn't about, in Chef's words, the "mattress mambo". It's a multiplayer party game for up to four contestants, crammed full of trivia contests and South Park-themed mini-games. Playing as Cartman, Kenny, Kyle, or Stan on Chef's game show, contestants must dig deep into their memory banks to demonstrate their knowledge of worthless information. In addition, players face less mentally demanding mini-games that challenge reflexes and hand-eye coordination. In Rodeo, players try to keep Cartman on a mechanical bull for the duration. Bad Kitty is an unleashed Donkey Kong-style platform game. Players, as Kitty, avoid Cartman's angry barrage of bouncing balls, and jump over obstacles on a quest to consume his pot pies.

South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker came up with new tastelessly hilarious sound bites for the game, and Isaac Hayes, the voice of Chef, contributed his smooth voice as the game's star host. No surprise to anyone that this game carries a Mature rating, so it's probably best to leave it in the box during Johnny's 10th birthday party. But South Park fans are sure to fall in swee-e-et luv with this game. --Eric Twelker, amazon.com

2.0 out of 5 stars South Park: Chef's Luv Shack, 12 Jan 2002
South Park has been the cash cow of the last few years, and critics have loved to point this fact out. However, summer 1999 saw the release of the film, and that proved all those critics wrong. It was witty, outrageous, and nothing like the TV show, it was brilliant.
However, then you come to Luv Shack, and that feeling suddenly fades. Put simply, it's a virtual gameshow hosted by the silky smooth cantten chef (voiced by Isaac Hayes), where you play as one of the four stars of the show, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny.
Sounds fun, but unfortunately despite some relatively humerous catchphrases it gets dull. To win you need to have a knowledge of pointless american trivia, something that no one will know well over here in good old blighty.
There are mini-games, and these are the standing factor of the game. They are initially classic coin-ops with a South Park twist. "Spank the Monkey" is Simon Says. "Bad Kitty" is Donkey Kong. And "Bees at the picnic" is Space Invaders. There are actually fun to play. Shame that they're all over in a couple of minutes though.
Despite graphics that do give you a feeling of the show, it soon gets boring, especially with the stupidly long loading times. Sure, it is a four-player game, and South Park fanatics will get some fun out of this, but it seriously isn't an essential buy.
Put simply, you need to be a South Park fan who constantly has friends around for some gaming to get the most out of this. And if you can buy it cheap, then it's worth a look. Just don't expect anything special.

Don't listen to them! This is one of the best games ever made! It's a bit rude, unfortunately, but I like it, no matter what other people say!

4.0 out of 5 stars Normally average, but there is one thing you can do..., 29 Nov 2001
By A Customer
The premise of Chef Luv Shack is as simple as that of a game show where the questions are complemented by mini games (most being clones of old arcade games). The questions themselves are fairly obscure, being as they are based on American rather than global culture, but still the game normally is very average. The brilliance of this game comes to the fore though during a four player game where all the players are quite drunk. Once that criteria is fulfilled all the jokes are side splittingly funny, every one fights over who is going to be cartman, and the mini games suddenly become a matter of honour. A must for any one over 18
