5.0 out of 5 stars "My Life is my own", 26 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Patrick McGoohan stars as The Prisoner, a man who resigned from a top secret job only to be abducted and placed in 'The Village'. The Village is populated by people known only by their number, and our hero finds himself designated number six. The Village is run by the sinister and unknown number one, whose sidekick number two is responsible for supervising the Village....but who lives in constant fear of being replaced. Number one wants to know why number six resigned from his job, and despite The Prisoner's objections that he just wanted a holiday they continue to question him. Can he trust anyone or anthing, even his own mind? Will he ever escape? Who is number one?

In Many Happy Returns number six wakes to find that the Village seems to be completely empty. Nobody is in sight, there is no electricity and no clues as to what has happened. The Prisoner takes the opportunity to build himself a boat and escape from the village. He eventually finds his way back to London and to his old house. There he seeks help from his old colleagues. He must try and convince tham that the Village exists and that he is not mad. However, he begins to doubt whether he can trust them when they start to ask why he resigned.....Is he really free or is this another trick?

Dance of the Dead sees the Village having a carnvial. Everbody must have fun - thats an order! When the Prisoner finds a body on the beach and meets an old friend he uses the opportunity to try and make contact with the outside world. He finds himself betrayed and on trial for his life, not just for murder but for deliberately not 'fitting in' with Village life. Will the court have mercy?
