If you like your music with big bold gestures full of visceral excitement then do go for these symphonies. A really exciting find for anyone interested in large romantic symphonies from the early part of the 20th century. The Norrkoping orchestra play with zealous fervour - huge granite blocks of brass writing overwhelming the rest of the orchestra. Superb recordings too - as exciting as anything you'll hear all year.
