Suffering from back pain I went to my GP who advised me to consider the Alexander Technique to improve my posture. I decided to obtain this video in order to gain an insight as to what it was all about. The program is very carefull not to show any actual techniques, but rather explains what The Alexander Technique seeks to achieve and how it goes about it. Having seen the video I took it at once to my local surgery so that it is available for loan to other sufferers. I have since joined an Alexander class and it DOES work!

I ordered this DVD because I'm taking Alexander Technique classes and my teacher recommended it. Turns out it's perfect, riveting to watch and extremely useful. You can watch someone having their very first Alexander Technique lesson - it is like watching yourself having the lesson and learning twice as much as a result. You can see the benefits of doing Alexander for people doing a range of different activities such as playing the piano, carpentry and sword fighting. It also shows you exactly how to do your homework, how lying on your back with your head on a couple of books and your knees pointing upwards for ten to 20 minutes a day can truly improve your mental and physical health. As someone who has become an evangelist for Alexander as a technique that has helped me become more relaxed and calm, less confrontational, using up less energy while achieving more, I'm so pleased I've found a DVD that explains how and why it works. Instead of trying to explain, I can just buy the DVD for people who I think might benefit. Definitely recommended Jane, London.
