Product Description

CD Description

The follow up to RPM's successful complete 60's Decca period comes this complete coverage of Felix's time with Mickie Most and RAK from 1970-1972.

Picked up by Most at the time of Felix's peak exposure on BBC TV they scored a top 20 hit with the first single, If I Could (a reworking of Paul Simon's El Condor Pasa). Second single, Heaven Is Here was written especially by Hot Chocolate for Julie, and it too charted. A further single Snakeskin (made up from a Donovan riff) has gone on to become something of a club favourite due to its `Goo Goo Barabajagal' like chopping guitar/drums backing.
Keen to encourage Julie's own writing, Most recorded an LP (Clotho's Web) with 11 out of the 12 songs penned by Julie, on the theme of the tapestry of life (Clotho being the greek fate who spins the thread of life). To record the album Julie brought in friends John Paul Jones, Madeline Bell,Stefan Grossman and Most brought in Cozy Powell plus mutual associate Big Jim Sullivan. The result, a stunning original work of high musicianship ,inventive songwriting, clever arrangements (the opening title track sounding real close to a Led Zep production from the period) , grossly overlooked in subsequent years.

Remastered at Abbey Road Studios, where it had been recorded 37 years previously, here are the original LP plus all the singles, as produced by Mickie Most and released by RAK.

* First ever reissue, and first time on CD.
* Complete RAK Recordings
* Includes collectable Snakeskin single
* Follow up to the Decca album release
* Felix still playing regular UK dates

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare master recreated, 4 Aug 2008

I was suspicious that this was a re-recording but no - the great Mickie Most album with Julie Felix on CD for the first time. Each time you play it it becomes fresher and fresher. It is almost hypnotic in its effect - the best ever Julie Felix album reproduced superbly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A web of wonder!, 20 Oct 2009
By PHIL ALLITT (tywyn, gwynedd United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

Sometimes we don't know what we are missing and that was certainly the case here. Julie charted with "El Condor Pasa" and "Moonlight" in months prior to the release of this gorgeous album. "Fire, Water, Earth and Air" should also have charted but it didn't and ... oh! if you enjoyed ANYTHING you ever heard by Julie Felix, just BUY this cd. Every track is excellent.Now remastered with all the extra singles of the time.

I was hoping one of these days-now i HOPE they dont mar the beautiful Gini Barris GF/front cover with ugly company logos, "bonus tracks" "Expicit lyrics" (joke) etc the whole cover was a work of art orig on EMI-RAK was GF with NOTHING but a pic of Julie on front, and inside a wonderfull inside panoramic painting by Gini Barris (also did King Crimson LIZARD)
all the print and credits were on the back cover (the other half of Julie)
