John Wright is a singer who is well-known on the folk circuit, particularly in the North of England, in Holland and Germany. John has a voice that demands you stop and listen; such is its beauty and purity. The tracks on the album are well-known standards- many of you may recognise the album's title "A Few Short Lines" as being part of the lyrics from the beautiful song Black Is The Colour.

This album is a marvellous introduction to John's passionate, heartfelt singing, but would also be an excellent CD for anyone who envisages songs of this type as being delivered with one finger in the ear and a tuneless warble.

Such is the quality of this album that it is almost unfair to choose a stand-out track, but Black is the Colour just shades it from Raglan Road. Put it on, sit back, shut your eyes and be enraptured. This is the antithesis of wallpaper music.
