Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The best attempts at producing high quality ambient music--Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92, or the KLF's Chill Out--are the results of an eclectic, adventurous mind. But while it's true that Chilled Euphoria boasts a laudably diverse selection--everything from ambient grandaddy Brian Eno's "Music For Airports (Ambient 1)" to an alternative cut of trance dullard Chicane's "Saltwater"--there's a presiding feeling that this is less because of brave choices, more because of uncomfortable compromises. Mixed by Red Jerry, the house-spinning head-honcho of London-based Hooj records, this surely should be a compilation that knows its oats, but all too often, the big names--Moby, Primal Screa, and, uh, Moby again--are hammered in like square pegs into round holes. Still, when it works, it undoubtedly work --see the beatless mix of "Smokebelch II" by Sabres Of Paradise, or the ever-reliable Underworld, contributing the mood-defining "Second Hand". --Louis Pattison

4.0 out of 5 stars Sure enough, it is a chilled-euphoria, 22 Jul 2006

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
As my first chill out album, Chilled Euphoria was certainly good enough to make me continue buying chilled albums like this, but few have lived up to the sounds of this incredible album. The mixing is smooth and seamless throughout, while the rhythms will send you into dreams. Even my dad was impressed (and thats saying something!). With a collection of original songs that were already chilled, to smooth remixes of original club songs (Like Go-Moby) it has a strong variety of sounds, but absence of bass and constant beats makes it an album to take away a headache.
My favourite track would have to be the very last one - This Love, at the end of cd2. It has a very mellow sound, but really wraps up the album lovely, and is a beautiful song. The 2 prevous tracks, Dream Universe and Synaesthesia are fantastic too, Dream Universe especially being the most 'dreamy' of all the songs.
Their is little difference between the layout of cd's 1 and 2, but the sounds change a little I feel. Whereas cd2 has much more variety in the sounds, the first has a constant flow, but both cd's are as smooth as you could imagine.
Perfect for relaxing to after a hard days work. I guarantee when you hear Dream Universe, you'll whisper "wow..." as the album round off.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Chilled Than An Ice Cube, 2 Aug 2001
By ssmiddy@another.com (Bournemouth, England) - See all my reviews
I have only just brought this album and i love it. It is by far the best chillout album ive heard with tunes like Cafe Del Mar Michael Woods remix and Music for Airports. If you have trouble sleeping buy this chuck it on in the night and close your eyes.
