1.0 out of 5 stars Charlie Sheen very good. Leading lady's accent shocking, 26 Dec 2000
This review is from: Postmortem [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This could have been quite good. Charlie Sheen raises what could have been a mediocre plod of a film to quite high levels with an excellent performance. Unfortunately the put-on accent of the American actress chosen to play the female Scottish detective was so dreadful that the film becomes a bad joke. How can a film retain your attention and belief if the lead female's voice meanders between a Scottish, American and Irish accent? I don't normally write reviews but a piece of advice for any leading actors or actresses. Never work with animals, children or abismal accent impressionists!

1.0 out of 5 stars Without a doubt one of the worst movies ive ever seen, 26 Oct 2008
By Colin Smith "Col5150" (Glasgow Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this dvd as i thought it would be interesting to see Charlie Sheen running around my home town trying to solve a murder.

Unfortunately it was barely watchable, from the very get go it becomes obvious that its a low budget, limited cast and poorly written film. It takes around twenty minutes before you realise the film isn't just about charlie sheens character being an alchoholic.

The two main problems are the cast and plot. The Scottish actors are mostly terrible and it rings like a very early episode of taggart. The worst of all however is the female lead. Her 'scottish accent' revolves around a sort of Irish/American/Scandinavian/Dutch accent and really grates.

The plot its self is exceptionally ropey with not a lot of the descisions being made by the characters even making sense.

There are two good parts in the film however, when the lead detective utters the fantastic line in his thick Glaswegian accent 'im no using that lassie as a piece of cheese' and seeing Sheen run around Glasgow central train station.

The second most famous person in the movie after sheen is Mrs Mac from take the highroad, which is a message in its self.

In a nutshell this movie is awful, in my opinion its on a par with the early stephen king movie 'Maximum Overdrive' or 'Queen of the damned'. Yes it really is that bad.
