My first experience of Townes Van Zandts work was a hearing of 'Long Way From Dead' after a vodka fuelled all day drinking session in London.

Despite being the worse for wear I knew the next day that I had discovered something truly special. This album was the only one my local record shop had in stock. What an album it is.

Van Zandt was clearly a haunted genius. The songs are both rich and simple at the same time. the lyrics hold a beauty that can move you to tears and the melodies are just awesome.

How come you've never heard of Townes before ? How come I hadn't until that fateful night in London. Hell, don't worry about it, look to the future and 'get into Townes' in a BIG way. This lp is a masterpiece and a great way of starting your journey through the work of a man who should be a legend...
