4.0 out of 5 stars Surprise!, 27 Jun 2002
By Mart Sander (www.martsander.com) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I grabbed this DVD without any expectations, not even knowing it's a flick from the 80-s, a period I don't much like as horror movies go. But fortunately I was in for a surprise, a pleasant one. This is a very well constructed flick, and whilst the viewer tries to chew his/her way through the weird goings-on, the clever pacing and confusing story wrappes him up, offering some genuine eerie and frightening moments just when one expects it the least. It can be that in conclusion the film promises more than it delivers, but doesn't almost every horror film? At least the promises are well presented!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay early work. Nothing special but pleasant enough., 10 Oct 2004
By A Customer
One of those horror films that, when things start getting weird, the characters start acting in a sort of trance where they randomly ignore weirdness happening all over the place. This makes for an unsatisfactory experience.

Expect motifs as per The Shining but set in a strange, inherited club/fetish empoium with paedophilic overtones, this really needs a remake with Jennifer Jason Leigh (a fine actress in an early role) again as the heroine.

Oh, andthe sound seems uncompressed. What with that and the mike boom showing, it looks like a low budget potboiler that could really do with some serious cash throwing at a remake. Becasue it's there's a really soog story trying to get out here.
