I am a great fan of inudstrial/EBM music, but among the many albums I possess, this ranks among the best. Its glaring synth lines and melancholy undertones, coupled with the strange vocal harmonies create a beautiful atmospheric piece, but one which is not contained slely in atmosphere - it lacks nothing in energy or innovation. This album will take pride of place alongside other albums like Apoptygmas Berzerk's Welcome to Earth and '7' in the shelves of my CD collection

I'll keep this short and sweet: Dark pounding beats, elegent rhythm and beatiful sounds overlaid with edgy lyrics. Probably the best EBM album I've encountered, especially "Kingdom" - love it.

Empires is about as close as we have been to an electro-industrial-ebm masterpiece since the genre was rejuvenated on the European front in the late 1990's by artists such as Apop and Covenant and Stateside by Assemblage 23 among a few others. The entire album is full of catchy beats, creative song structures, and Ronan Harris's distinguished vocals. Empires is expected to remain a genre-defining classic in the forthcoming years. I have had this album in constant play since purchasing it a few years back. What some people may not know about is that there is a sister release, called "Burning Empires" (also dated from 2000) which includes several remixes, a couple of nice new songs and the rare vocal version of Saviour. Unfortunately though Burning Empires has been out of print for some time now, and quite difficult to find. I wish the record company would take a welcome initiative to release this sister record once again.
