An absolute must buy. Let this CD inspire you!, 12 Oct 2001

'Live from the battle in Seattle' is just that, recorded during the no WTO protests of 1999. As the liner notes say, 'surrounded by cops and tear gas'. It features Jello Biafra (ex Dead Kennedys), Krist Novoselic (ex Nirvana) and Kim Thayil (ex Soundgarden). The CD begins with a spoken word performance by Jello, which is as entertaing as it is political. You really get a feeling of the electric atmosphere of the crowd, still buzzing, raging and inspired by the events of Dec.1st 1999. Then the band launch into 'Let's lynch the Landlord' and it really gets going. Given that the band only had a hanful of rehersals, the playing is surprisingly tight, showing the quality of the act. The next two tracks are new ones by Jello. 'New feudalism' and 'Electronic Plantaion' are both lyricly excellent. Both focusing on the horrors of global capital and its effects. Musically though they are good but not great.(In my opinion!) The band finishes with an absolute stroming version of 'Full Metal Jackoff' from Jello's LP with DOA. It sounds as fresh and relevant today as it did in 1988. As well as all this you get a lavish booklet, with photos of the protests and the gig along with much written matter By Jello and Krist. It really creates an atmophere and is very educational. Buy this CD, buy the T-shirt, better still - let it insire you to get active and involved in making a better world!
