RE2 for less than 20 quid is a bargain, 9 Sep 2000
By A Customer
The Resident Evil series of games has always been renowned for its groundbreaking gameplay and element of shock-horror that gamers love. RE2 is the much improved sequel to the original Resident Evil, and Namco have done much here to spruce the gameplay. As well as new weapons, for which new add-ons can be found to beef them up a bit, there are more zombies, monsters and unmentionables than ever before. You also get the chance to play the game lots of different ways, starting with either one of the 2 characters available, then playing the second half of the game with the other character. The lifespan of the game is enormous, the levels which you have to explore are beautifully rendered, the puzzles are up to their usual intruiging standard. This is a must buy for any fan of the shooting/shock-horror genre, and RPG/adventure fans will also love it, as there are a few RPG elements build into the game. Now on platinum at an unbelievably low price, get it now, add it to your collection, and prepare for some sleepless nights ahead as you will be playing this game well into the wee hours from behind your sofa!

The Perfect Sequel?, 3 Feb 2004

Resident Evil 2 Is A Great Game And The Graphics Were Top Notch For It's Time But Now The PS2 And XBox Have Taken The Lead. This Was The First Game I Played On The PSone Having Played Resident Evil 1 On The Sega Saturn I Thought I Would Get This And It Is Better Than The First. The Story Is Connected In That Umbrella Corp Have Created A Worse Virus Than The T-Virus Which Was Featured In The First RE. This Virus Is The G-Virus And Has Turned 99% Of Raccoon Cities Residents Into Flesh Eating Zombies. People Alive Are Leon Kennedy (He Is The Character You Play As), Claire Redfield (You Play As Her In Scenario 2, She Is Looking For Her Missing Brother Chris Who Was 1 Of The Characters In The Original Game), Chief Irons (He Dies And Is Not A Playable Character), The Mysterious Ada Wong Who Teams Up With Leon, Sherry Birkin, The Daughter Of The Creator Of The Virus That Teams Up With Claire, Annettte Birkin Who Is The Creator Of The Viruses Wife And William Birkin, Creator Of The Viruses And Father Of Sherry, He Is Also A Mutated Enemy.... This Game Is Not As Scary As The First (Come On, Whats Scarier Than Running Around An Infested Mansion). All The Resident Evils Are Big Rivals To The Silent Hill Series Which Are Just As Good. The Silent Hill Series Is Far To Scary, Infact Resi Evil Is Not Scary At All Compared To Silent Hill. To Conclude, Resident Evil 2 Is The Best Of The Original 3, Well About The Same As The 3rd. It Is Worth Getting A Copy But Play The First Game Before Playing This. I Also Reccomend Silent Hill 2 On The XBox Or PS2.

A sequel as good as Godfather Part II and LOTR:TTT..., 12 Jul 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The very best sequels are those that take everything good from their predecessors and expand upon it. Happily, RE2 does exactly that.
Noticeably larger than RE, RE2 moves from a post-apocalyptic suburb to a deserted police station, a sewer system and a laboratory. The puzzles are back, as are the trademark, shuffling zombies (along with new, deadlier enemies). The weapon count is also dramatically increased (which, I would say, was the one flaw with RE). Another significant addition is the extra scenarios for each character, which can be accessed once the main games have been completed.
Despite all this, however, the game retains everything that made RE great. The wonderful "tank" control system is still present, the "look" of the game remains the same despite a slight sharpening of the graphics, and the sound design is once again brilliant.
The real triumph of this game is that it improves significantly upon RE, but can be picked up and played in exactly the same way. If you enjoyed RE (and let's face it, who doesn't?), then you cannot lose with RE2.
