Amazon.co.uk Review
It's not as easy being a dog as you might think--all that tail-wagging, stick-chasing, bone-burying and endless eating can tire out even the fittest pooch. So, if your canine chum seems in need of some rest and recreation, here's the perfect musical gift to restore them to rude good health. From American record label Delos,
A Day in the Life of Lucky is a not-too-serious soundtrack to a dog's life--or "Lucky" the labrador to you and me--from the rousing allegro wake-up call of Vivaldi's C-major concerto for two trumpets to the lilting, sleep-inducing lullaby of Tchaikovsky's first string quartet. The range of music on offer--from the Baroque exuberance of Vivaldi through to the 20th-century ebullience of Shostakovich--is extremely varied in style and mood; a sign, no doubt, of just how discerning dogs can be! Each musical excerpt has its own tongue-in- cheek diary entry, although what Haydn would have thought of having his second piano concerto described as an "optimal pooper-scooper moment" is probably best left unanswered. Performed by some of America's finest orchestras and soloists, this proves to be an enjoyable collection full of life and vitality that would also serve as a useful introduction to classical music for many dog owners as well their four-legged best friends. Now, where did I put that lead? --
