One of the less known but not one of the worst films by the brothers.The whole movie happens in the room of a hotel with an hilarious pageant of characters and situations with some of the best dialogues ever seen in the cinema.

My earliest recollections of a Marx Brothers' film when I was a child was Harpo eating a lit candle and chasing a turkey around a room! I don't think I made much of it at that age; fortunately I grew to appreciate the true genius of these comic masters.

Room Service is not always considered as good as the finest of the Marx Bros films. True, it is a bit claustrophobic at times (taking place mainly in a hotel bedroom) and it lacks the wonderful Margaret Dumont who was the perfect foil for Groucho; even Lucille Ball is somewhat wasted. Still, it is not fair to condemn a film just because it does not live up the exceptionally high standards of the rest of the entries; in its own right it has much to commend it. Mainly this centres around what the Brothers get up to, of course; they try to stall being evicted until a play can be performed which will change their fortunes. Such is the thread which strings together a series of zany gags, notably Harpo pretending to be ill, the brothers donning layers of clothing, and all sitting down and devouring a meal - with Harpo displaying a voracious appetite!

It remains a film I can watch from time to time when I need a good laugh. Marx Brothers films don't come up on (terrestrial) TV as often as they used to, so this is well worth having.
