Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Who'd have thought it, eh? All those years that Doc Cox was wowing millions of That's Life viewers with his witty ditties and novelty tank tops, he was leading a secret double life as Ivor Biggun, smutty king of the double entendre. Effortlessly straddling the gulf between all-out filth like The Macc Lads and cheesy comedy like The Barron Knights, Ivor Biggun specialises in end-of-the-pier-saucy-postcard-ooer-missus-where's-my-trousers-more-tea-vicar comedy. It's not witty or clever, but it does have a certain charm, plus there's something inherently funny in Esther Rantzen's former right-hand man repeatedly shouting, "I'm a wanker". After hearing this, I doubt she'll ever want to go anywhere near his right hand again. --Helen Marquis

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pan Handled Blast From the Past - Classic Dirty Ditties, 22 April 2001
By A Customer
Even more filth dirt cheap, a welcome return on CD from the original filthy monkey himself. As most of my old tapes of the classic albums had either been stolen by those who covet mucky songs, or turned to cassette dust (as these things tend to do) I was as pleased as Esther Rantzen at a rude vegetable contest to see this 'un available. This is top banana music from a time when you could play these songs at top volume and your neighbour would only ask where he could buy them from himself. A great collection of songs on "Fruity Bits" there is, although while I appreciate that it's not possible to please everyone all of the time, would it have killed him to include "My Brother's Magazine" in with the rest? And while I'm at it, how about Mr Biggun AKA Doc Cox releasing more of his back catalogue, such as "More Filth" on CD? Food for thought, and I'm not talking savaloys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Piggin' Brilliant!, 24 May 2000
By A Customer
He's back! so give him a big hand ( but don't shake it though! ) - As a big biggun fan I was delighted to hear the horn-rimmed herman handler had been released back into the community. Though the fruity bits is a kind of "greatest hits" album you can tell that there's been trouble getting the some of the masters tapes released which is why we're presented with the "classic mono mix" i.e. the one saved on a cassette seventeen years ago.

This doesn't matter though - the whole "home demo" live to 4 track casio organ and drum machine plus Woolworths guitar actually add to the charm of the whole piece. as Frank Carson ince said "It's the way I tell 'em" and nobody can sing with such total disregard of shame, convention & tonality as Ivor. And bloody glorious it sounds too!

I was hoping for a CD release of the entire back catalogue but mabye this will come later, and I can then enjoy the sweet exquisite feelings evoked by "Wanker's Paradise", "John Thomas Alcock" and "My Brother's Magazine".

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely fan-freakin'-tastic!, 30 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Wow! I still remember back almost 20 years ago when I heard my first Ivor Bigguns song. It was Bras on 45 on the Dr. Demento radio show and I knew that one day it would be mine. Truly, Ivor should be considered a national treasure. When I first got my copy of Fruity Bits I took it in to the radio station where I work and played it for the production and copy guys. I can still hear them laughing their backsides off. Every track is a winner but I really like Ivor's country take off with "Halfway Up Virginia" Is there any way Ivor's other titles can be reissued and released? Please sir, we out in the colonies want some more.
