The zither music un-doubtebly adds to the whole impact and atmosphere of the film 'The Third Man'. This is a nice accompanying item to have if you liked the film. However the annoying thing is, is that every music track of that quirky zither music, has dialouge from the film laced in with it or even smothering it at times. So you don't get the full effect of the music on its own, as after all you by a soundtrack to listen to the music not the film. However despite this, it is a good buy as the music and film are together, both classics.

Of course the music from this clasic film is wonderful and unique, but it would appear that no isolated sountrack of it exists - hence this album, which is simply a recording of excerpts from the movie soundtrack - NOT the music track... thus, you get dialogue over much of the music - often out of context as the music clips do not cover whole scenes.
Faced with this limitation one would have hoped that the producers would show a little more imagination in the editing and selection, and extended one or two of the tracks to include some of the more classic and well-remembered lines - this would also add dramatic value to the music.
This album is still worth owning if you love the music, but if you already own the DVD of the movie you're basically paying for the same material over again.
The new recording from Silva Screen Records might be a better deal.

Very, very disappointing, I should have read the other reviews before buying as almost all the excellent music is ruined by the dialogue. I am very annoyed that Amazon does not mention this in the description of the album.
