Bored with the standard "novelty" classics (e.g. "The Birdie Song", "Agadoo" and "Grandad"), which lost their chuckle-inducing originality years ago? This collection contains long-forgotten gems which you feared had been left to rot in the bargain bins of yesteryear. Who could forget Jon Pertwee's tongue-twisting rendition of "The Worzel Song", or Bruce Forsyth's self-chiding track "Chin Up". The disc openers, Hylda Baker and Arthur Mullard's comic version of "You're The One That I Want" and Frankie Howard with June Whitfield's double entendre laden "Up Je T'aime" are reasons in themselves to buy this record. However even the most self-assured, tongue-in cheek, post-modernist, would have to agree that the Roger De Courcey track "Nookie's Song", is one of the worst releases ever (it has to be heard to be believed). Forget your Eurovision compilations, this is your ultimate "camp" novelty collection with added comedy value. As the title suggests there are some damn awful tunes on this CD but you can't half help liking them. --John Galilee
