5.0 out of 5 stars The Lucky Stars BACK AGAIN :D, 6 Jul 2003
Their back with a vengeance! Roundhead (Eric Tsang), Stanley Fung (Now renamed Rawhide), Sandy (Richard Ng), Herb is now only given a cameo role in the movie, letting his on screen brother take his place, named 'Kevin' (Pronounced: New Q Y). Also including Muscles (Jackie Chan), Ricky (Yuen Biao), Now named 'Fast Buck' (Sammo Hung). Also Andy Lau gets his role as the third partner to Biao and Chan.

I waited for this DVD for a while now. Know that Hong Kong Legends were releasing it I was instantly excited, with my love of the first movie. Yet I feel a little let down. Not by the movie, no no no. But the English dubbing of the movie. I was rather confused with the change of English Dubbed voices and some of the characters names, for example Kidstuff being changed to Fast Buck and Stanley being changed Rawhide.

Back to the film, the film begins with the LS waking up in their small home showing Fast Buck and Roundhead sharing a room together and then Sandy accidentally using Fast bucks closet as a toilet, a very amusing start to the film. In this film Herbert is only in it for a little time, but is replaced by his brother, Kevin. The film is its usual mix of slapstick comedy and every one trying to get the girl. Like the last film both Yuen Biao and Jackie Chan. But with Andy Lau this time, Chan spends most of his screen time with Andy Lau, where as Yuen Biao spends his time with 'Barbara' (played by Sibelle Ho, from My Lucky Stars).

Quite noticeably is the Three Stoodges comedy. With short slap, hit, eye poking sequence between Rawhide, Roundhead and Sandy. Yet I was confused with the sudden change in character for Rawhide. For example when he is playing Chess with Kevin and looses. He decides to wreck the game, then take his anger out on knocking over Fast Buck's NEARLY completed jig-saw, then spoiling Sandy and Roundheads castration on the Inspector Cho Voodoo Doll, then stamping on Roundheads foot. I was still rather amused by Fast Bucks, deciding to take revenge on Rawhide with....A Samurai Sword!!!

Now bringing in the leading lady to the movie, Rosamund Kwan (known for playing Aunt Yee in the OUATIC series and Jackie's Armour Of God), She plays the role of 'Chi-Chi Wang' an theater student along with housemate John (played by John Sham). I was rather surprised in Rosamund where she participated in a wet night dress scene, making his chest clearly visible and also showing a scene of her going to the toilet. Yet she is this movies object of desire by all the lucky stars, where they attempt to get cheap thrills by having her hold her breath under water in a silk night dress while the LS's and John Sham glare over her body.

Now to the Bad Guys, three assassins are set out to kill Chi-Chi. These bad guys are as follows; Chung Fat (Also known as Weird/Wild Cat in The Magnificent Butcher) Richard Norton (Known as MacDonald in City Hunter) and Kurata Yusuaki (He played the role of The Uncle of Jet Li's love interest in Fist Of A Legend). I find it very amusing that in the Cantonese Dubbing every actor speaks their native language with Chung Fat speaking Cantonese, Kurata Yusuaki speaking Japanese and Richard Norton speaking Australian he, he, he, he. I find it amusing that Jackie Chan, Andy Lau and Yuen Biao are after the bad guys, yet its Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, stopping the trio in the end (With Andy Lau not present and Jackie sustaining a shoulder injury from a film he was working on). Yet the best fight sequence would have to be against Sammo Hung and Richard Norton, if you watch it in Chinese Dubbed its rather amusing with Richard Norton speaking to Sammo. Richard Norton: You gotta be hurting now! Sammo Hung: No, because my whole damn body is numb! great stuff!

4.0 out of 5 stars Split Decision, 12 Jul 2006
By Tezza (Sunny South of England) - See all my reviews
"Twinkle Twinkle" is a bit like cold pizza - not that appetising but there are a few bits on there that are so tasty, you just have to sample them! I'll explain: In effect, this is a comedy with martial arts, not a martial arts film with comedy and unfortunatley much of the comedy is over-long and dare I say, childish. Being translated and dubbed into another language probably hasn't helped. Comedy requires a great deal of skill to pull off and it must be difficult to do dub-overs and keep the same timing etc.

On the other hand, the various fight action that occurs is truly top notch and a masterclass blueprint on how it should be done! The warehouse scene with JC, Yuen Biao and Andy Lau does more for martial arts action cinema than any Hollywood film in the last 20 years (check out YB's tornado kick/back kick combo after flipping off a crate!) The final showdown is a martial feast that makes you forget you're watching a "comedy", and even the little post motorbike chase scuffle between JC and Richard Norton is beautifully edited and features a background Rock Guitar style bit of music - giving it great atmosphere. Oh, apart from the shot where JC leaps out of the moving car and turns into the "Mitchelin Man" (blink and you'll miss it).

For the action, this is definatley worth owning but I'll bet most of you never watch the film in it's entirety more than once. I'd rather quite happily spend an hour and a half replaying the warehouse scene!

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost up to the 5 star standard, 21 Mar 2000
By B. Mustafa "yamcha" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Not bad at all, this film really is a belter as you get to see Jacky and friends at it again! However the only drawback on this film is that you dont get to see Jacky in the main seat this time, because that scene is taken away and Samo saves the day again! Quite funny as the first part 'My Lucky Stars' but could have been almost perfect if we saw more action from Jacky. Action packed, and a good choice for Jacky Chan fans
