The WWF is Raw!, 23 Mar 2002

WWF Best of Raw Vol 1 1999 is the follow up to Best of Raw 11. Why the title includes the year 1999 I don't know, because all the footage on the tape is taken from 1997 and 1998. Anyway, what's it like? The tape has a different format to previous titles in the series. Michael Cole presents it in a studio, documenting highlights of the Monday night spectacular. The clips aren't dated, which makes it very confusing when Cole skips from 97' to 98' and then back again. First, we take a look at Steve Austin and his bitter feud with Vince Mcmahon. Unfortuntely, most of the footage can be found on Best of Raw 11 (this is also the case with the Undetaker vs Kane feud). We also see the beginning of Marc Mero's jealousy torwards Sable (footage is shown from 97' of Mero covering Sable up in a sack, and Sable disrobing to reveal a bikini top and thong, one of the more mature angles that Bret Hart spoke up about before Survivor Series)and Sable's famous bikini contest with Jaquelyn (Jaqui's "pop out" is cut out). Footage is also shown of DX's hilarious "attack" on WCW, and more footage is shown of Austin and Mcmahon (not seen on Vol 11). The tape concludes with a look at Val Venis, The Undertaker's Ministry and Shane Mcmahon's first story line appearance. Like Vol 11, there is very little wrestling action on display. It's very entertaining, but it's cofusing and short, and by the end of it, you don't feel that you've had a big enough dose of "Attitude". It's worth buying if you're a true fan, but don't expect the greatness of Vol 11.
