Amazon.co.uk Review

For an entire generation who hid behind the sofa during the scary bits, jokes about Doctor Who are almost inescapably funny. The Curse of Fatal Death, an extended sketch for Comic Relief, stars more unlikely actors and comedians as the Doctor than anyone could have imagined plausible--Rowan Atkinson, to begin with, and both Hugh and Richard E Grant. The last-named performance indeed gives one uncomfortable thoughts about roads not taken...as does Jonathan Pryce's remarkable tribute to Roger Delgado as the Master. The tape is filled out with an informative "Making Of" tape and three Doctor Who-related sketches by Victoria Wood and Jim Broadbent, by Lenny Henry and by French and Saunders--this last sketch, never before shown, with French and Saunders as extras playing reptilian aliens, is particularly hilarious. --Roz Kaveney

Synopsis

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll laugh, you'll cry, you won't believe its not real..., 13 April 2000
Well fellow Doctor fans, it's all there. The crashing synthesisers. The maniacal laughter. The bad sets. The corridors. The plot twists. The Master. The Daleks. The drama. The tension! This little effort is a gem that the Doctor would wear proudly, and better still its all in a good cause. A loving satire that will have every true fan rolling on the floor. A magnificent tribute to a genre that will hopefully never die...I won't spoil it by telling you the end, but let me just say that Joanna Lumley gets my vote. As for the rest of the tape, its devoted to Doctor sketches by other greats of British comedy, and its just as good. French and Saunders were clearly connoisseurs. Highly recommended.
