Product Description

Detective Jack Cole (Steven Seagal) is on the trail of a psychopath in Los Angeles. When he is teamed with homicide detective Jim Campbell (Keenan Ivory Wayans), they stumble upon a conspiracy that leads back to Cole's past - as a top secret government agent known as the 'Glimmer Man'.

From Amazon.co.uk

Steven Seagal needed a new approach to his standard head-busting heroics, so he teamed up with Keenen Ivory Wayans for this routine 1996 action flick. This time stone-faced Steve plays Los Angeles homicide detective Jack Cole, newly transplanted from New York and teamed up with Jim Campbell (Wayans). They're assigned to track down "The Family Man," a serial killer who earned his nickname by crucifying entire families and leaving religious graffiti as his calling card. The case heats up when the latest victim turns out to be Cole's ex-wife, and Cole is considered a primary suspect. That makes Seagal get really mad--you don't want to get Seagal too upset, y'know--but he still has time to quote Buddhist wisdom and crack wise with Wayans, who plays it relatively straight as the practical half of this partnership. Glimmer Man is typical Seagal stuff all the way, with obligatory fight scenes every 10 minutes or so, but Seagal fans will enjoy it and Brian Cox makes a suitably hissable villain. --Jeff Shannon --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This film contains eveything that is good about Steven Seagal - story, pathos, martial arts action and what places him above other so called "martial artists" humour.
There are too many "classic" scenes in the film to record in a brief summary but those that leap to the fore include the scene in the chinese restaurant - Seagal is attacked by several men and ends up practically demolishing the restaurant "I'm sorry we're closed for redecoration - about two months I'd say" and in a different scene, Keenen Ivory Wayans' classic quote "I've just got to suck on some deer...".
The story: a number of bizarre murders have taken place in which the victims have been crucified. Seagal and Wayans are partnered to investigate (both cops). Seagal starts to think that there is more than one killer at work (one using the original murders as an excuse to "cover up" some other killings and ends up shooting the original killer in what his Department considers suspicious circumstances. Wayans starts to suspect Seagal and discovers that his history is incomplete (a bit like Seagal himself).
However, after Wayans is blown (literally) out of his apartment and a joint visit to watch 'Casablanca' they start working together to solve the case which includes the CIA and the Russian Mafia. Why the 'Glimmer Man' - you'll have to buy the film to find out.

Ive heard this compared to seven a lot by fans and critics. I didnt think it was similar at all! the only similarity is the gruesome murders, the rest of the story is totally different. Anyway I quite like seagal in these serial killer movies, kill swich was almost good too. This is similar to that movie but has a much better director who doesnt try to be clever. I spotted something that may make fans laugh - the final 'window scene' in this movie shows the villan thrown through a window from 5 different angles. In kill switch they have the exact same scene (early in the film) but they show the stunt from at least 10 angles! its very funny and I think the later version may be a homage to this movie. If it is then I take my hat off, bravo. Seagal is in crazy outfit mode in this one and the weird spiritual stuff is so odd that I liked it. It added to the comedy effect. I dont take most seagal films too seriously and enjoyed this one quite a lot. Its a bit different from the usual revenge ones he does and for me it works just fine. Wayans is decent and while its not exactly gibson and glover, it serves the film pretty well. Good fight scenes, some cheesy but funny one liners, annoying villan. Does what you want from seagal.

I am a real Seagal fan, an unashamed martial arts action hero, and Glimmer Man is a great example of this. It has much martial arts and spectacular action, but is contrast with humour between Seagal and Wayans and others making it a particular favourite of mine. I watch it maybe 3-4 times a year and for the blend of martial arts action and humour I commend this film to you.

I have got all of stevens films on video and dvd and you could say that im quite obbsessed. This film is one of his best however in my opinion others rate above it. It is action packed from the beginning to the end with some excellent martial arts from all actors not just steven. The fight at the end is just fantastic it really shows what steven is like. He has no fear because he knows his ability to fight is second to none. The film is just packed with amazing quotes and i do like at the end where he says. "when you wake up in the morning i think your pleased with what you see and that disturbs me, so im going to take it on as my reponsibilty to make sure you never wake up happy again". I love the whole film and could watch it over and over again. Others seagal films to watch are; Under Seige, Under Seige 2, Nico, On Deadly ground, Exit Wounds, Half Past Dead, Executive Decision, Hard to kill, Ticker, Forigner, The Patriot, Marked for Death and Fire down below. Other films of his are about and keep your eyes out for his new stuff.

If you don't like segal at all then you won't like this film as it does have his personality stamp on it. This is a very good film even if you are not president of his fan club. Stunts, effects, decent storyline, a fine saturday night film.

The first 10 years of Seagal's career was definitely his strongest! He was a lot slimmer, looks his height & his acting was by far better than his later DTV films. A routine action film with Seagal & Wayans playing LAPD cops, Seagal is the thinker whereas Wayans goes in all-guns-blazing! A marked improvement from 'On Deadly Ground' & definitely up there with Seagal's best (Under Siege, Hard to Kill to name but a few). Just a shame that from late 2002 onwards Seagal made more DTV films that haven't been as successful as the 14 years of theatrical films he made (Above the Law - Half Past Dead).

This is probably Steven Seagal's best movie. He is usually more adept to play a macho army colonel runnin' round kicking in some geezers head, but in this he does it with a spark of acting panache and talent in the mix. Most films I have seen with him in such as Executive Decision and the 'Under Siege' films, seem to be focused on him being some hero, this is no exception but he adds heart and soul to his game, the glimmer man is slightly original and quite graphic. It's downfall is Seagal's reputation to make crap films, and so less people are attracted, but when I watched it I could see the flair and immagination of his acting, and his support from Keenan Ivory Wayans is superb... This film is well worth watching because keeps you gripped and poised for more - and just for the guy said it was 'utter crap' just like his other films, well he's wrong it isn't like his other films - It is better...
