Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Dave Lister's prayers have been answered. The ultra-annoying hologram, Rimmer, has left to become a universe-hopping hero, and a rift in space-time has brought his ex-girlfriend, Kristine Kochanski, back to life. But there's trouble in paradise as Kryten the mechanoid freaks out at the prospect of losing Lister's affections to a woman, Kochanski freaks out about being trapped in space with three losers who have the collective social IQ of celery, and Lister is shocked to find himself actually missing Rimmer.

Anyone who shares this last sentiment will get a fix in episode 5, "Blue", which features a carnival ride through a virtual-reality version of Rimmer's perversely skewed diary. But the real treat of this collection is in episode 6, "Beyond a Joke", when the berserk Kryten rampages through "Pride and Prejudice land", foiling Kochanski's efforts to inject some culture into life aboard ship. Chloë Annett does a commendable job of fitting Kochanski in among the misfits of Red Dwarf, and shoulders the job of straight man with admirable aplomb. --Anna Peekstok

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak with some bright moments., 4 Dec 2001
By A Customer
The second installment of Red Dwarf VII. Probably the weakest video available, but worth it for the Munchkin Song and some nice character moments.

Duct Soup-
A charming little character-driven episode. A contrived plot, but that is neccessary - we can delve deeper and find out more about Kochanski's character. This episode contains some wonderful stories that, while not as funny as those in 'Marooned' are very charming. It's such a pity the 'Squeaky Gibson Story' was left off. Some really funny lines in this episode. Negatives: the whole pipes thing at the start is irritating and certainly not genius comedy, the conclusion is also less than satisfying. 2/4

Blue-
An episode that suffers from some weak dialogue. However, the character scenes, including the Rimmer flashback sequences are delightful. The fantastic kiss scene being the best of them. Yes, The Munchkin Song is incredible and one of the highlights of the whole series. 3/4

Beyond A Joke-
Robert Llewellyn's episode is, sad to say, rather weak. A pathetic plot with gelfs etc. Are there no other monsters in the Red Dwarf universe? Some totally unsuitable music and poor dialogue. That Able guy is just sooo irritating. Some good lines however and the Tank sequence is funny, at least there's some action. There's also a fantastic scene in the middle between Kryten and Lister where they discuss the robot's creator. Good special effects and a nice turn by Don Henderson. 1.5/4

4.0 out of 5 stars Red Dwarf. Lost it's Touch?, 26 Nov 2000
Red Dwarf the long awaited 7th Series has arrived with a pack of laughs and more twists than ever. The word of Red Dwarf has travelled 'quicker than a whippet with a bumful of dynamite' and Red Dwarf VII is just another gift of the well written quality comedy. Craig Charles makes Red Dwarf worth watching by playing curry scoffing, beer guzzling Lister, unfortunately in the episode 'Epideme' he contracts a virus from a woman he claimed to be 'Tutankhamen's horny grandma'. This particular episode is in two part and it is a barrel of laughs. Red Dwarf, has it lost it's touch? Order it and find out
