4.0 out of 5 stars Blood & Guts, lots of action and a superb final!!!, 19 Jul 2001
By A Customer
Nice tape for those of you who like bare-knuckle matches and MMA in general; in this tournament you will see everything that is expected in a no-holds- barred event: punches and kicks, grappling, ground fighting, submissions, lots of blood and spectacular KO's (Don't miss Vovchanchin's 1st match, this guy is really dangerous). Although some fights are pure brawling, in the rest of them the competitors show fine technical resources, above all when grappling and submitting ( one of the semifinals lasts just a few seconds: a quick take down, an anckle bar and that's it!). There are also KO's by punch to the head and a lot of tap-outs. The competition took place in Moscow, and there the fights are far more brutal than in the US or Japan: Russians are really tough, and they endure unbearable punishment till they tap out; moreover, the referees in Russia are not as "quick" as , for instance, John McArthy ( the UFC referee), and sometimes a fighter gets 2 or 3 extra shots after being knocked-out or after having tapped. Don't miss the final where the giant Ricardo "the monster" Moraes (A Brazilian fighter that, almost literally, shatters his previous opponents) clashes with a really tough Russian Sambo fighter; if you like real combat, buy this tape, a must-see.
