5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!!, 15 Jan 2001
By A Customer
AMAZING! is the only word with which to describe this film. if you appreciate alternative/foreign film as it is obvious so many of us don't then you will love it. it has a compelling story line with some superb acting from the 2 main females, Beatrice Dalle and Elodie Bouchez. Beautifully shot and put together; music is very cleverly combined with shots and action in this film, even if you are not a fan of dance music you will love the soundtrack.

this is all round a wonderful film and well worth watching, however it is not for the narrow minded!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Clubbed to death doesn't work, 29 May 2002
By A Customer
I can understand that the drug culture, club culture is enthralling and interesting. Hollywood has, like every other aspect of life, exploited this. However, even when you take a toned down film about a french girl lost in an adult world of fake happiness, it still comes down to a simple equation: a film about a girl doing drugs, getting lost, finding a bloke, bit of agro, all happy in the end. Thousands af people go clubbing in london every weekend. The drug culture is only interesting to those who have never encountered it. As for the quite footsteps and melodic techno, i think the film was built more around the music than around the club culture in france precipitating in a film which says that clubbing is fun if you take care and don't let strange men try and rape you. i waited the whole film for some attention to detail of story line and, though i know these things aren't essential, there must be something that the viewer can hold onto. 3/5

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing!, 14 Jul 2000
By A Customer
The scene is set well as the film opens drawing one into club life in France.

I am sorry to say that despite the charms of Dalle & Bouchez it fails to significantly develop into a convincing scenario.

Dalle`s magnetic screen presence is on tick over, she has far more to give but the director fails to provide her the framework in which to give it.

Bouchez is pleasing on the eye but fails to convincingly exude the emotional extremes.

By far the best aspect of the film, in my opinion, is the relationship of the brothers. This deserved to be explored in more detail in order to build stronger emphasis on their dependence of each other; this would have led to a far more emotionally involved fight scene.

In conclusion: I felt detached from this film, however, given better directional structure and emotional depth, club culture appears a ripe source of material for film makers.
