Synopsis

This musical production follows the life of Heathcliff (Cliff Richard), the brooding character from Emily Bronte's classic novel WUTHERING HEIGHTS. When young Heathcliff becomes a man, he falls for the troubled Cathy, leading to tragedy on the Yorkshire moors. Richard's turn as Heathcliff was a huge stage success, aided by the lyrics of Tim Rice and music composed by John Farrar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sir Cliff works his magic, 7 May 2002
By E. Williams "williamsc47" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A truly marvellous stage adaptation of wuthering heights, complete with every emotion in the novel. Turning the novel into a stage musical was always going to be a tremendous task, but efforts by Tim Rice and the fantastic cast did the trick. Three of the main characters in the novel are brought to life by three fantastic performers, Cliff Richard playing Heatchliff, Helen Hobson playing Cathy and Darryl Knock playing Edgar. These three stars come together to create a truly fantastic show that many thought would be too difficult to achieve. Full of some fantastic acting and some of the most exquisite voices, heathcliff is a must for all Cliff, Musical and wuthering heights fans alike, it really is no wonder it is the biggest box office smash of all time, a truly tremendous adaptation to the stage. Highly recommended!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The review of a fellow artist, 7 Aug 2002
I have seen this video more times than I have had hot dinners. It is a real "Feel good" movie in the sense that there is so much music and colour and life that you can't help but love it. I watch this while cleaning, doing paperwork or just as a means of chilling in the evening. For anyone who likes good voices and dance will love this portrayal of a classic novel. Amazing vioces and gripping story line, well done to Cliff Richard. Best thing he has ever done.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Wuthering Heights adaptation ever!, 15 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Cliff Richard has adapted Emily Bronte's infamous 'Wuthering Heights' to a fantastic musical with the focus on 'Heathcliff', posing the question of 'Devil incarnate or misunderstood man' to the audience. The songs are beautiful and Cliff Richard is complimented by a strong and talented cast. This adaptation offers the audience an insight to what Heathcliff may have done when he ran away from Wuthering Heights, something Emily Bronte left to the imagination of the reader. Cliff Richard suggests that he joined the navy, working his way up to captain and pillaging foreign countries until he is as wealthy as Edgar Linton. The dancing and singing bring the novel alive and the DVD is certainly as good as the being in an auditorium!
