5.0 out of 5 stars The best parody ever! More true than the truth :-), 6 Dec 2000
By mark.plesko@ijs.si (Ljubljana, Slovenia (yes, still Europe :-)) - See all my reviews
Since I have first watched Yes Prime Minister on our national TV (in Slovenia) back in 1990, I am a fan of these series. The text is composed of all ingredients humour can have: extraordinary dialogues, witty comments, situations, play with words, facial expressions and best of all, a great storyline. And this is true for each single story, out of the six. While the typical British humour appeals to some non-British but not to others, "Yes, Minister" is understandable for all people with a sense for humour and makes them laugh, laugh, laugh. Yet a bitter taste remains at the end, as should be true of all good satyric acts since the great Greek ones: "Yes Minister" is a parody of everyday political life, but the older and more experienced I get (two years ago I have been offered to become the equivalent of permanent secretary in our country), the more I realize that the story just exaggerates the truth. Check out, what your politicians really are doing!
