5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, 10 Oct 2000
By oscola@aol.com (London, England) - See all my reviews
Sammo Hung outdoes himself, in what i see as the greatest martial arts film to date. Amazing coreography, brilliant fights, great scripts and a fab story. Sammo Hungs "caligraphy scene" is indescribable, words do not express how brilliant this film is. (pity Sammo signed a crappy contract for "Martial Law"). I own over 50 martial arts movies made by the best of the best, and out of all of them, this is my favourite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trickshot reviews kung fu films!, 20 April 2000
By A Customer
The Prodigal Son, the prequel to Warriors Two is another classic Golden Harvest movie directed by Sammo Hung. It stars (Yuen Biao) as a rich man's one and only son who is convinced that he's best fighter in town, but actually his dad bribes his opposition behind his back to lose so he won't get hurt. This of course makes his situation worse when he fights a wing chun master (Lam Ching Ying) who not only refuses the bribe and beats him, but informs him of his fathers plot. A very upset (Yuen) returns home and asks his dad to help him bribe the master into teaching him to fight. Unfortunatly the master won't take him as a student so his dad buys the entire opera troupe he works for and gives his son a job there in the hope that the master will change his mind. But this is'nt the whole story, there is also an emperor who has a son (Frankie Chan) who thinks he is the best fighter and his dad has royal guards protecting him. Without spoiling the plot the two prodigal sons meet for a battle will it be fair? why are they fighting? and who will win? I suggest you find out because this film is a classic, it's a typical Sammo film with fast action and comedy with alot of famous Golden Harvest faces, it's great...

5.0 out of 5 stars They Dont Make Em Like This No More, 3 Sep 2002
Well what can i say that hasnt been said, not alot really all Ill say is that this is one of the very few films that shows the Wing Chun style in a profound cinematic way Wing Chun is a very suttle and intimate style of martial arts and transfering it on to the screen is intensly difficult but thanks to Sammo Hung's excelent choreography and all the stars commendable abilitles and talents this is a sure fire winner. And the best Wing Chun film ever a conbination of Yuen Biao amazing physical grace and Sammo's artistic direction just why did you sell yourself out with american series 'Martial Law' Sammo i'll never understand
