Jaqueline Chapman begins her video with a warm-up routine, which is very important before you begin an exercise. The routine not only warms up the muscles but also ensures that you maintain the correct posture and balance.

She talks you through the various dance movements in a calm and unhurried manner which helps the viewer to be relaxed (very important when embarking on any form of exercise).

You learn how to drop and lift the hips in the Turkish and Egyptian manner. Execute rounded hip lifts and perform 'camels' (undulations) along with basic steps that enable you change direction with style. In between the exercises Jacqueline shows the different moves linked together as a choreography. Jacqueline also wears some stunning costumes that dispel any theories that to perform belly dance one has to attire one's self in filmy harem pants and bra tops.

By the end of the video you have learnt some basic but important moves that when linked as a whole constitute a complete choreography which will amaze your friends.

By the time you have done the routine two or three times you will notice increased flexibility. Jacqueline Chapman takes Belly Dancing back into the high art form it really is.

This was the first instructional Belly Dance video I ever bought and I have never looked back. A very good introduction to Belly Dance.

I had high hopes for this video, being interested in dance but with two left feet. The video itself was nicely shot, lovely views and gret music. However, even i found this routine too simple and had mastered the whole video in one sitting. I just wish there were follow up videos where i could try my hand at mastering complex dances. But good for those who see dance as a simple little way to pass some free time.

The good part about the video is that each dance move is split into sections showing the various basic moves. The bad part is that teaching was hampered as the long costume made it difficult to see what the teacher's legs were doing. I appreciate that the traditional belly dancing costume is customarily worn for public performances, etc., but feel, at least for the sections showing the basic moves, it could have been ditched for shorts or jeans and then worn when performing the dance at the end. My other gripe was that there were annoying sections, lasting several minutes, throughout the video where the teacher just did her own thing, leaving the viewer in limbo. This is fine if you are not a beginner, but not very helpful if you are. Finally, there were no stretching exercises at the end, although there was a useful warm up at the beginning. The teacher just did her own dance routine lasting several minutes, leaving the viewer wondering when the stretching exercises were going to happen. Admittedly, you don't work up a sweat with this video but I have always been told whatever exercise routine you do, you have to warm up and cool down. Also found it to be a bit boring and repetitive overall. Not a video I'd be particularly excited about repeatedly using.
