This video was a huge disappiontment to me. I go to belly dancing classes and still find this video hard to follow. The main reasons for this are the poor quality home- video- style recording, bad lighting and terrible sound. Egyptian Belly Dancing for Beginners should be renamed "Dancing in The Dark" because at one point Hilary Thacker wears a black outfit infront of a black background, making it almost impossible to see what she is doing. Surely there are better belly dancing videos than this !

I bought this video on a whim as I wanted to do more exercise but get bored easily by most workout videos. I thought this would be more worthwhile as I would be exercising while learning something interesting and I wasn't disappointed! Hilary Thacker makes an excellent teacher and there's certainly more to belly dancing than I originally thought. I don't even feel like I'm doing "proper exercise" as I'm having too much fun. As one other reviewer mentioned, the performance quality of the video isn't amazing but I don't find that this spoils my enjoyment of it at all. I would recommend this video to anyone who would like to get more exercise without it feeling like a chore or who would simply like to learn something new.

This an excellent beginner's video, covering many different moves in detail, she explains things very clearly. This is the best video for beginners of Belly Dancing that I have seen, I would recomend it, the only slight downside is that the sound is a little muffled, but does not spoil my enjoyment of the video.
