5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant but could have been better, 25 Nov 2000
So little on Revolver and Abbey Road and too much on their Liverpool origins - but still a great insight into the Beatles' world.

It's a shame the Beatles didn't continue their pioneering ways and pick a director who could show them in a contemporary way.

On the plus side, isn't it great to see the real interaction between them all. I love it when you see George losing his temper with Paul in the final coda discussing Free As a Bird. "Oh so John invented Jimi Hendrix?" after Paul said the feedback at the beginning of I Feel Fine inspired Hendrix.

It could have been better but the truth is, I watched it all in one fantastic 10 hour sitting.

I can't wait to see it on DVD and I hope they bump the content up even more.

By A Customer
Totaly Amazing! The footage in these videos is fantastic,it just keeps rolling while the audience sit awe. Not only do they contain all the promo videos The Beatles ever made including: Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, Strawberry Feilds, Hey Jude, Lady Madona and both tracks recorded on the roof top of the apple offices, they are also full of great interviews with the three remaining Beatles and Gorge Martin, Neil Aspinall and Derek Taylor. Well worth It!

5.0 out of 5 stars Once you start watching you won't stop!, 14 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This is essential viewing for anyone who is interested in the career of the Beatles and their remarkable story as told by the three surviving ex-Beatles themselves, along with quotes and clips of interviews with John Lennon before his tragic death in 1980. Be warned though, it's addictive viewing! I started watching the first tape one afternoon over Xmss and ended up watching the whole lot!! My only criticism is that some of the things that are covered in the recently released Anthology book are - much to my surprise - glossed over, in fact in some cases hardly mentioned here at all. One prime example is the death in Hamburg of Stuart Sutcliffe, the bands' orginal bassist. In the book, there are quotes from the ex-Beatles about this and their reaction to it at the time, but nothing on the subject appears on these videos. Some have complained that there is too much emphasis on their early career but then again this is unavoidable as they were in the public eye more so in the early days, especially up to 1966 when they gave up touring. In fact the first 5 tapes cover their rise to fame and the heady days of Beatlemania which followed. Overall, this is a superb and essetntial video collection.
