2.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing but worthwhile for the skating fan!, 7 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I agree with the other reviewers that it is very difficult to obtain figure skating videos in the UK and bought it as i am a very big fan. There are a few complaints i have about the video, the primary one is that the narrator identifies certain jumps wrongly on a number of occasions throughout the video. There is a large part of the video that concentrates on the historical side which is informative but not really presented in an entertaining way. There isn't really much information in relation to how the sport has become more technically challenging. The BBC used most of the historic footage on the video as an introduction to the 1995 world championships but the BBC footage had the benefit of Robin Cousins narrating. A further complaint is that the achievements of both John Curry and Robin Cousins were barely mentioned and there were two quick shots of both skaters. As a British skating video i expected a little more of the video to contain footage and information about both of those legendary skaters. Despite my complaints i am pleased i bought it as it is a good brief guide to the historical events in figure skating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great documentary, 3 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I think this is a great documentary for anyone interested in the wonderful sport of figure skating. It starts from the very beginning, when it was first introduced in the Olympics, and goes up to the 1994 games. It reports on the biggest names of past and present, who they are, what they gave to the sport, their biggest accomplishments and disappointments. Includes rare footage and interviews. Includes coverage on stars such as Sonia Henie, Ulrich Salchow, Karl Schafer, Katarina Witt, Torvill and Dean, Isabelle and Paul Duchesnay, Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding, Brian Boitano and Brian Orser, Scott Hamilton, John Curry, Irina Rodnina and other people who shaped the way the different disciplines developed. Very interesting
