4.0 out of 5 stars Early comedy outing for two international stars, 21 Dec 2000
By Mr. P. R. Goodhead (Worcester) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This dated but likable British comedy features Petula Clark who blackmails a ex-con into kidnapping her in order to get her actor fathers attention. Seeing all the fun she is getting from this Anthony Newley soon wants in on the act too! Singing stars Newley and Clark would also appear together in Vice Versa before years later teaming up again in Vegas as the giant stars they had become at Ceasers Palace.
Paul Goodhead - President - Anthony Newley Society Worldwide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely old British classic!, 25 Jan 2008
By FAMOUS NAME (UNITED KINGDOM) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)

Feel-good movie from 1949 - both enchanting and entertaining. An all-star cast in this, with Petula Clark as top of the bill!

Pet Clark plays an unruly daughter of a wealthy and famous stage actor. Feeling neglected and looking for excitement, she takes advantage of an unexpected situation, and 'becomes' kidnapped using her own machinations! Almost falling for the younger of the two 'kidnappers' (a rather nice Jimmy Hanley) she eventually has to call the whole thing off to spare his true love.

Other big names in this include; Linden Travers, Anthony Newley, Maurice Denham and Dandy Nichols.

A lovely cinematic gem that is long overdue for release on DVD.
