A little bit of "Pot Black Magic", 7 Nov 2002
As soon as you hear Chas & Dave's opening titles, you expect something good... You won't be let down!Everyone's seen John Virgo on a Saturday night doing a couple of trick-shots on the telly. This video shows some of his best and a few more besides. Although in my opinion Ray Reardon will always be the "King of trick-shots", you can't knock JV!!!! The video comes into it's element though when Alex "The Hurricane" Higgins walks on set (...and occasionally off set) to do some tricks of his own. Any one over the age of 25 should at least faintly recall his days of glory and unique style. This is the man who made me love snooker despite his other activities. You'll see from this video that there is still fire in his heart for the game. The absolute highlight though has to be the single frame Alex and John play against each other. Even this produces a handful of trick-shots and a few laughs. Without saying too much it was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining frames of snooker I've seen for a long time. I only got the video this morning and I've watched it twice already. The teaming up of JV and Higgy is great. Both show a good - if a little different - sense of humour and appear to love what they do which makes it all the more enjoyable to watch... Even if you don't like snooker! It really is 50 minutes of "Pot Black Magic"
