Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Neil Simon's terribly funny play about roommates Oscar the slob and Felix the neurotic was first committed to film in this 1968 production, directed by Gene Saks (Barefoot in the Park). Perfectly timed, ingeniously rendered, not a hair out of place in the history-making performances of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon (or the great support cast), The Odd Couple is a movie that one just has to see every two or three years to stay happy. The poker-game sequence in which Oscar's cronies seem to be falling under the sway of fussy Felix's talent for making sandwiches is priceless. --Tom Keogh

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Comedy - Side splitting fun!, 18 Nov 2001
By A Customer
If you are a fan of the old comedians then this is the film for you. Good clean fun! From the very start Lemmon will have you in stitches playing the neurotic Felix Unger who moves in with laid back sports reporter Oscar Madison (the great Walter Matthau) after his wife throws him out. With his constant whining (and dusting)he finally drives Oscar crazy.

This comedy duo work so perfectly together that they have you convinced that they really are Oscar and Felix.

A film you will want to watch over and over again.

If you like this film check out The Odd Couple 2 (every bit as funny as the first only 30 years later) and Out to Sea. Comedy has truly lost two of its greatest!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 22 Jan 2004
The funniest comedy ever. Provides hours of fun just trying to remember all your favourite bits and then realising you've listed particually every scene in the film. Dark comedy at it's finest, and every performance, line, and joke pitch pefect. Superb!

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch it!, 28 Dec 2000
By A Customer
I've seen this film about a thousand times and never tire of it. It's one of those movies that noone can watch without laughing uncontrollably. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon complement each other perfectly in their best ever film - with the exception of Lemmon in Some Like It Hot - and provide exceptional comedy with brilliant subtlety. The start sees Lemmon attempt to kill himself, failing thanks to his friends. Matthau of course offers him a room at his apartment... the fun follows as Lemmon's neurotic tendancies clash with Matthau the slob. This is a must-see film if ever there was one... buy it now!!!!!
