Filmed in the dramatic style of the age of the silver screen with lavish costumes, scenery and ambiences, beautiful actors and mega-dramatic acting, this film is certainly worth watching, but I feel it is nowhere near as in-depth as the novel, and therefore could disappoint devotees of the book.

FOREVER AMBER,1947,colour,is brilliant and lavishly filmed in technicolour.It is an historical period drama.The stunningly beautiful-LINDA DARNELL-plays Amber,a village maid,who is left alone to bear the child of Bruce Carlton[CORNEL WILDE]an adventurer whom Amber loves.Determined to win him,she gains stature and title and has an affair with a Captain[GLENN LANGAN],marries an Earl[RICHARD HAYDN]as well as becoming a mistress to King Charles II[GEORGE SANDERS]all in the hope that Bruce will come back to her.RICHARD GREENE plays Lord Almsbury.
FOREVER AMBER-is well acted by the entire cast and also has plenty of action.I have this film on vhs tape-but i would also like to see this movie released on dvd.
