5.0 out of 5 stars Genius - that is all i need tto say!, 27 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Brilliant, fresh, original and overall, completely funny. 3 great episodes, including the 1973 xmas special. Just one point to make though, why are there only 2 Goodies videos available????? The BBC really need to sort themselves out, as there are so many good episodes to release and they are just sitting there in the vaults gathering dust - and when you think of how many Dr Who, Star Trek, Only Fools & Horses videos there are out there, it all makes me a bit angry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Much Overlooked Comic Genius, 20 Nov 2000
Possibly the funniest comedy act in the last 30 years, the Goodies were overlooked as a serious comedy outfit mainly due to their pandering to the "pantomime" mentality. Watching these as a kid you can't fail to laugh at the vaudaville like antics of the trio. Never repeated since their first broadcast (lord knows why!), the Goodies are seminal as adult entertainers. Watching these twenty years later, with visual gags and sharp dialogue to put Monty Python to shame, these three episodes are unfailably funny. From the epic and opulent "goodies and the beanstalk" to the superb single room theatre of "the end", the goodies scripts are masterpieces of comedy. So good (and cheap) that you should buy two copies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old, silly, but still funny, 15 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Well worth seeing for the goose that lays the golden eggs bombing the Goodies, not to mention Alfie Bass as the giant.
The Goodies version of Jack and the Beanstalk is easily the funniest of the three half-hour programmes, although the one where the Goodies get entombed in a concrete tower block is also quite amusing. I didn't remember the third programme at all (cream and jam mining in Cornwall) though I recalled the others quite well. The third one's not nearly as funny as the other two.
I hadn't seen this since it was originally shown on T.V., but it still made me chuckle and my six year old found it hilarious and laughed out loud a lot of the time.
The recording quality is not of the best and shows its age, but if you like John Cleese beating the car with a tree branch you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
At last. I thought the Goodies had gone forever. Watching the Goodies takes me back to my childhood. They are funny without being crude or insulting. Read more
