An Evening Of Bassey Celebrating 40 years In Show Business, 12 May 2003
This video represents one of the finest example of Shirleys powerful voice. Even though the concert is a little more serious than her more recent ones, it's still an unforgettable show. In this video she's celebrating 40 years in show biz. (In 2003 it's 50 years in show biz.) Wearing a revealing and beautful black gown, she sings some of her best hits including "Goldfinger", "Hey Jude", "Big Spender", and more. Even though she has sung "I Wanna Know What Love Is" at almost every concert since 1989, the version in this video is my personal favorite. She sings it with such conviction and emotion, that it sends chills down my spine and gives me goosebumps. There's also some great audience interaction at the end of the show with "I Am What I Am" and "This Is My Life". I recommend this video for Bassey fans and collectors. I also recommend that you try to find the VCD which has a better picture and sound quality. Maybe someday this video along with other historical Bassey performances will be available on DVD.

Even a half concert,is a bonus., 21 Jun 2001
A live performance should be exactly that, why an edited version, shirley (sic) they werent worried about running out of video tape, and that awful lighting,(i know, for the audience, not the cameras), but they made her look bad,she who is already very dark, the rest was well, what one could only expect of madam, faboulous, but not over the top fab,as in yore, time has lent a deep maturity,as well as power,to that already awesome voice, the old favourites were all here, hurled out flame thrower style,as she alone can do,even on mono the voice, is still staggeringly powerful, and of course she didnt have to work on the audience, being back in her own backyard showed right through.
