That Sinking Feeling was the first of Bill Forsyth's Scottish comedies and it is perhaps the most endearing of them all. Made on an exceptionally low budget, director Forsyth ( Gergorys Girls, Beihng Human, Local Hero) relies instead of the quality of his script and the naive charm of his young actors. Don't mistake this movie, however, to be of interest only to Forsyth buffs. Its comedy is wicked - working class but always light hearted, Forsyth's characters are real people, fun, daft, and learning along the way. Based on the antics of a set of east end wide boys whose plan to rob the local sink factory goes wrong, the story unravels as half farce half character study and leaves the viewer wanting more from their new-found accident-prone chums. A charming movie, and a classic.

i remember seeing it in london's ica when it was first released. i think it's bill forsyth's funniest movie, great glasgow dialogue from the boys who just want to be able to live off their 'ill-gotten drains'.
