5.0 out of 5 stars The Rat Pack at their best, 24 Jan 2004
Frank,Dean, Sammy and Bing all shone in this fantastical musical, they really showed on screen what great entertainers they were, the kind of people who we need today in cinema.
The story about gangsters, gambling and the Rat pack ,was genius. I enjoyed secenes such as the transformation of Robbo's casino to a revival meeting, where Guy Gisbourne (Peter Falk) gets mugged, the pool match between Frank and Dean and Sammy wrecking Gisbourne's casino with his machine gun.Quotes said in the film, "I think somethin's wrong with his throat" and "I wonder where he's going? Well, wherever it is, he's in for a big surprise when he gets back." were priceless. Loads of entertaing songs were packed into this glittering film, such as Sammy's "No one gets a kick out of bang bang like me.", Crosby's "Don't be a do badder." and Frank and Dean's "Got or you haven't got style."

Overall i thoroughly enjoyed this film, i don't usually watch musicals but Robin and the seven hoods was brilliant, i would watch it over and over. With lots of humourous gags, famous actors, plenty of catchy tunes this film was definatley the best musical for me and the Rat pack.
I urge people to go buy this film becuase you will miss out on all the fun of watching the Rat Pack on screen.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as good as Ocean's Eleven, 21 Nov 2000
Being a newcomer to the "Rat Pack" and all the excitement and anticipation that went with them I grabbed this video with great gusto, having witnessed the delights of Frank and Deano, the latter being a personal favourite of mine, Ocean's Eleven had all the trappings of being the very first rat pack film to be made and it shows, there was an enthusiasm in the first that could be clearly seen, it was as though all the energy which was highly apparent in thier shows at night had transposed itself onto the takes of the film. Unfortunatley this energy does not appear to be quite so apparent in Robin and the Seven Hoods, this is quite a mish mash of a film in which the rat packers, with the conspicuous absence of Peter Lawford, seem simply to be trying to re-create the magic. The plot itself is quite straightforward and the dialogue predicatable but not bad, and the acting as usual a show in how not to exert yourself at work.

Don't get me wrong this is not in any way a terrible film and compared to most of the films released today it is very good, but it is not Ocean's Eleven, which in today's movie world would be worth quite a few Oscars.
