Harrys game is the story of an undercover soldier, hunting for an IRA killer at the hieght of the troubles in Ulster.

Gritty and dynamic story brought to life. This film will stick in my memory forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Harry's Game, 17 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Gerald Seymour is an author of great talent who consistently produces thrillers of gritty realism and convincing plots. The depth, and character development achieved in his writing would be near impossible to achieve on the screen.
The dramatisation of Harry's Game saw some creditable performances and an attempt to re-create Seymour's atmosphere - but sadly it does not achieve the affect created by the book. An entertaining film nonetheless for those who may not have read the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gritty realism (?), 20 Feb 2002

The story of a British officer masquerading as a Republican-sympathizing Northern Irishman. Grittily realistic in its treatment, this excellent film suffers from one flaw: no-one could simply "infiltrate" the Republican hardliners like the IRA simply by assuming an accent and a weak cover story! Even in the film one of the characters notes that Harry's accent is "all over the place"...That in fact is the point: the officer has been infiltrated for short-term bureaucratic and political reasons and his life risked for those reasons. There is some attempt to show that both the British officer and the IRA assassin are the tools of other people and their agenda. Good film.
