Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Like a soda pop left open all night, Ferris Bueller's Day Off seems to have lost its effervescence over time. Sure, Matthew Broderick is still appealing as the perennial truant, Ferris, who takes one memorable day off from school. Jeffrey Jones is nasty and scheming as the principal who's out to catch him. Jennifer Grey is winning as Ferris' sister (who ends up making out in the police station with a prophetic vision of Charlie Sheen). But there's a definite sense that this film was of a particular time frame: the 80s. It's still fun, though. There's Ferris singing "Twist and Shout" during a Chicago parade, and a lovely sequence in the Art Institute. But don't get it and expect your kids to love it the way you did. Like it or not, it's yours alone. --Keith Simanton, Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Head games are totally not my thing..., 24 Jun 2009
By Jeanette (Brockley) - See all my reviews
Ferris Bueller has been described as a mature, responsible and patient guy - that is until he decides to skip school for the day, with hilarious consequences. He convinces his best friend to borrow his dad's restored Ferrari and they drive downtown to enjoy many sights of the city, viewing the uniquely constructed buildings. When the Ferrari is taken by garage assistants, Ferris ends up walking in the rain and hearing the raindrops hitting the sidewalk. And then he gets off the bus.

There's just one question the film leaves unanswered. Who is Virgilio Anderson?

5.0 out of 5 stars Who is Virgilio Anderson?, 24 Jun 2009

(REAL NAME)
I purchased this after a recommendation from Virgilio Anderson. I must say that Virgilio has exceptional taste, this movie is fab!

I am now going to look at some uniquely constructed buildings and listen to the sound of raindrops as they hit the sidewalk as these are other things recommended by Virgilio.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best feel good movies of all time, 11 Jun 2002
By A Customer
This is a film that will lift your spirits every time. A real feel good movie, it delivers with a great story and first rate comedy. Matthew Broderick is perfect as Ferris, as is Mia Sara - his gorgeous girlfriend. Some reviewers have said it looks dated in places, personally I would say its a timeless classic. Has great music too.

You can go into the plot in some detail, which reveals holes - but the film isn't about an intricate plot. Just trust me when I say it all comes together at the end!

This film is well worth buying, because I gaurantee you will watch it again.....and again...and again....Just leave a few weeks in between or you'll kill its charm.

DVD version: great quality picture. Commentary by director. Not much else, but its not a hi-tec film. It gives you a great film with easy scene access - useful as some scenes you will want to watch over and over again.

The essence of the story: Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while - you could miss it.
