4.0 out of 5 stars History in the making, 30 Dec 2000
By A Customer
After a tight tense affair, suddenly this match sprang to life in the second half. Reid of Everton was clear on goal until hacked down by McGrath. Peter Willis, the referee then made history in the FA Cup, becoming the first referee to send a player from the pitch in the final. United fuming after that decision stormed back, Everton chasing the "double" sensed the game was theirs. With a only a quarter of extra time left, Whiteside broke down the right. With no support whatsoever he did the impossible, curling a shot round the footballer of the year, Neville Southall to give ten man United an improbable victory.
