Video Description

Is there a better way to work your body, burn calories and lose weight than to dance? The Hip Hop Workout is a brand new concept, mixing hip hop dance with aerobic exercise to produce a fast, effective and hugely enjoyable way of getting fit and burning that unwanted fat. Backed by a great soundtrack of hip hop tunes, the workout is choreographed by Tony Stone, who has worked with some of the hottest dancers on the scene, including the legendary Michael Jackson, and dancers and choreographers for Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

The programme begins with an essential 10-minute warm-up, followed by the main workout, which is broken down into four 9-minute sections that ultimately come together to create a final performance piece for when you’re ready to work that booty on the dance floor! Pretty soon you’ll be looking and feeling great, plus you’ll be able to bust some seriously cool hip hop moves.

Synopsis

A new way of exercising with Hip Hop dance and aerobic exercises. The programme includes: a ten minute warm-up, and a main workout divided into four nine minute segments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the soul as well as the body, 31 Jan 2004
This workout is absolutely great!

Yes the dance moves are a bit complicated to begin with but you soon get the hang of it. Part of the fun is having a good time trying the dance moves that you don't realise at the time you are doing a workout.

I find the instructor Tony Stone to be a very likeable guy. The steps are taught clearly though it may take a few goes to get them right. There is nothing cheesy about these dance moves.

This is mainly an aerobic workout and needs to be used in conjunction with muscle toning/sculpting workout. You work up a sweat alright but with anything, you get out what you put in.

The soundtrack is really pumping......I am just simply loving this.

1.0 out of 5 stars not very impressed, 27 Oct 2004
I am reasonably fit, i work out 5 times a week and after enjoying my first dance-based workout video ('hotpants workout') i decided to buy this 1 too. I found it very disappointing, mainly because the 'instructor' doesn't actually provide any instructions, he just does the moves as if we're miraculously supposed to know them. If you're a trained dancer you would easily pick up the routines, if you're not you'll be so lost trying to work out the steps that you won't actually feel like you've worked out at all. I only lasted through half the video because of the lack of instruction, and went and did tae bo instead. Not impressed by this at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars good points bad points, 20 Jan 2004
By sharon (scotland) - See all my reviews
i got this video for my birthday and sat and watched it first. i thought oh no i will never be able to do this. seeing all the fit toned dancers kep me motivated to actually want to do it. The last time I took dance lessons I was 6 years old I am now 25, i found some of the moves hard to learn at first but the more you keep at it the quicker you pick them up. After 2 weeks I can now easily do the side kicks with jacks. the first time i done this my legs were like jelly after 2 weeks of doing it every 2nd day , i can actually notice a difference. The only think it doesnt work out is my stomach so i just take 20 minutes to do my own sit ups. i definately worked up a good sweat after 15 minutes of this video. my advice would be to watch the video first, then maybe practice one session at a time till you have all the moves down to a tee. I have not done the last section yet as it is all the moves put together into a dance routine. Overall this is a good, fun, energetic video which will have you busting moves you never thought you could do.
