5.0 out of 5 stars Blows me away every time!, 16 Jul 2001
By A Customer
As a huge Radiohead fan, I never thought I would find a band to rival Thom and the boys, but I was wrong. The first time I heard the sublime, ethereal intro to Svefn-G-Englar, I was hooked on Sigur Ros. A breathtaking ten minutes of swirling keyboards and sonar noises topped with beautiful choirboy vocals, this song is enough to send the listener into a trance. Listen to the other three tracks, and gently drift away on a cloud into a land where pop music doesn't even exist. Take the best orgasm you've ever had.....multiply it by a thousand.....you're not even close.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect, 4 Jul 2008
This EP was where it all started for me. I was working in a record shop at the time and nobody knew who Sigur Ros were. Out of curiosity I put the CD on and within moments I couldn't believe my ears. At the time I hadn't heard anything like it and judging by the reactions of other people in the store, neither had they.

A man browsing in the classical section approached me and asked who was playing and whether it was possible to buy the CD. I told him that it was the only copy we had and that it had already been sold but to come back soon when we had more in stock. So yes, I'd decided to buy it.

The first two tracks appear on the "Agaetis Byrjun" album which is another fantastic release and is still considered by many as their best release. I now own all the Sigur Ros albums but "Svefn-G-Englar" still remains my favourite track by the band. It's slow and haunting with soaring guitar and angelic vocals.

The final two tracks are live recordings and make this EP worth buying if you already have the first two on the album. "Nyja Lagio" is particularly impressive and shows a darker and slightly heavier side to Sigur Ros. The tension in the chorus is incredible. "Nyja Lagio" ends things on a quieter note but is still impressive and atmospheric.

The EP is a good place to start if you've never heard Sigur Ros before but the live tracks make it worth buying for fans who already own the albums.
