Great compilation. The killer tracks kick off with the funky 'Get Up and Get It', Jackie's hammond sound laid over the top of the breaks gets your feet moving like something by the Meters or the MGs. My personal favourite is another funky number, 'Juice Box', a thumping bass beat driving this monster as the organ and guitar take turns to duel. Other items of interest include covers of 'Summer Breeze' (Isley Bro.s) and Lennon & McCartney's 'Norwegian Wood' (by another name). It is a shame though that, for example, 'Earthquake' wasn't included as it would fit perfectly, though this is available on 200% Dynamite (which is well worth the dosh too!).

Jackie played a similar (even more extensive) role at Studio 1 to the one Booker T played at Stax, arranging and performing on many of the great tunes to emerge from that stable. He is a genuinely influential musician who has helped to shape Jamaican Music across most of its genres, after all this guy started off playing in the Skatalites! This is a piece of music history and well worth the asking price.

This is a real classy CD. It shows a real jazzy side of reggae that you don't often get to hear. It doesn't feature "a primitive organ sound" or even "crazy analogue synth sound", just Jackie playing a Hammond Organ. It is very evocative of its era which was the late sixties and early seventies. Just check out Jackie's cool suit on the CD cover! This CDs mellow vibes will just make you drift off to reggae heaven. Mmm Nice. It's mainly an instrumental CD with the odd bit of vocals (not really Dub reggae though, it's too lively, jazzy and happening 60s hammond organ man for that). I play it all the time at work and now everyone is a fan. Its fun and infectious. Buy it now!!

about making a purchase if you're a rootsy rockers fan. If you're not, buy it anyway. A rare gem for those late night sessions where most is too much, this is everything in the right place, just when and where you want it. Jackie Mittoo, an unsung hero of roots reggae. No vocals required. Top notch.
