Product Description

Album Description

On his debut solo recording John Barrowman performs songs from some of the shows in which he's appeared plus a selection of classic Sondheim compositions and some rarely heard gems. These include songs from Miss Saigon, Anything Goes, Sunset Boulevard, Whistle Down The Wind, Beauty And The Beast, and many others.

About the Artist

2006 has been quite a year for the actor John Barrowman. Following a starring role in the BBC revival of Doctor Who, Barrowman was chosen as the lead in the spin-off cult sci-fi series `Torchwood' which has become a huge success.

What you may not know is that he already had a successful career as a star of musicals, both in London and on Broadway. He has appeared on stage, both in the UK and the US, in shows including "Miss Saigon," "Beauty and the Beast," "Evita," "Hair," "Sunset Boulevard," and "A Few Good Men." He has appeared on television on both sides of the Atlantic, and his film roles include DeLovely, in which he performed a duet with Kevin Kline and Mel Brook's remake of the Producers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, 4 Jan 2007
By a.vampyre (Wallsend) - See all my reviews
I cannot recommend this CD too highly. John Barrowman brings a richness and depth of emotion to the songs that is often missing and in doing so lifts them up to something extraordinary.

I particularly recommend the heart-breaking 'Tell My Father' - which I had to listen again before continuing the CD - and 'If I Can't Love Her'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Early work but still fabulous, 2 Oct 2007
By Germanlady "Kicki" (Bordon, Hants, UK) - See all my reviews
This is the album that got me hooked on JB's voice, a friend had told me about him and I got curious and have not looked back since. His voice is warm and touching, he can sing anything and make it sound great. My favourites on this album are 'Tell My Father' and 'Bring Him Home'. John is a star in the true sense of the word talented, hard working and loyal to his fans. This album is one of the best starting points for a career that will last for many many years to come.
