Timothy Hugh and his able supporting forces continue on their journey through Boccherinis' Cello Concertos - this second outing shows the richness of music that Boccherini wrote for his favoured instrument.
The sound is fine with some sonorous reproduction of Tims articulate scrapings at the more tricky bits!
All in all a good fun record both for the collector of lesser known 18th Century repertoire or the casual listener.

This music is for those who love tidily phrased music from the latter half of the 18th century that displays more than a hint of genius. You think you know where it is going - and then additional notes and phrases are piled in. Boccherini's unusual ability to emphasise the cello's full range of sounds is backed up by Tim Hugh's mastery of his technique. The use of flutes and horns on some tracks makes this a different experience to the more famous concertos in G major and B flat major. However, for me it is a CD where the faster movements are played at too similar a speed. In fact, similarities between the concertos themeselves means that they are better appreciated in pairs at separate times. But genius it is!
